Hello, I'm Krysta-Lee

I’m running for re-election to continue representing you at council with curiosity, hard work, and a commitment to being a strong voice at the council table. 

 

 I’m a first term councillor, I  work as an organizer for a non-profit, and I’m a mom raising my children in the community I grew up in, Stone Mills. 

 

I come to meetings prepared, ready to ask questions, and ready to listen. I want to have a fulsome understanding of what I’m voting on and how it will affect the people in our community. 

 

I’m not someone who is satisfied to accept ‘this is just how we’ve always done things’ – that approach is why our council meetings now remain online to be accessible to everyone to see how decisions are made and to keep us accountable. I’ve spent years involved in community organizing, from fighting rural mental health cuts, to food sovereignty, supporting education workers, improving rural access to the arts, domestic violence awareness, and more. 

 

If something requires public support, I believe in inviting people in. 

 

Because that’s what organizing is. 

 

It’s not about standing at the front of the room and thinking you have all the answers. 

 

It’s about going out and talking to people. It’s listening and being curious.

We don’t have to agree about everything to find common ground and figure out what we can accomplish together. 

 

That’s the kind of perspective I bring to the council table. 

 

I’m not someone who shy's away from difficult conversations and I’m willing to take a stand when I think it’s necessary. But I also believe in the good intentions of the people around the table with me. We won’t always agree, and that’s ok. I know we’re all there for the same reason: to make our community the best it can be.

I believe good local leadership takes curiosity, preparation, responsibility, and a willingness to build bridges across differences.
